What is a natural burial ground?

Natural burial grounds aim for interment that has as little impact on the earth as possible. The setting prohibits interment of bodies embalmed with toxic chemicals, outer burial containers, as well as burial containers made of synthetic materials.

How to find a natural burial ground?

Not all green burial grounds meet the exact definition of a natural burial ground. Some are hybrids, while some do not strictly follow the green burial ethos. It is best to get in touch with the cemetery directly to determine if the burial site you are considering is truly green and if it is managed properly. Visiting the site will also give you a feel if it’s the right place for you or your loved one.
